Having to spend an unexpected night in Omaha must have ruffled his feathers.
When three peacocks got misrouted and ended up at the Postal Distribution Center at 13th and Pacific Streets Friday night, postal employees had to make an extra delivery — the trio needed water.
Things went off without a hitch with the females, who were in one box. But the male wasn't quite as mild-mannered. When his box was opened, he decided to take up roost on the duct work of the ceiling.
So Michael Davidshofer of Critter Control came to the rescue.
Postal employees had evidently been trying to snare the bird with a net, but Davidshofer put on his gloves and rode a lift up to the bird. He was able to simply reach out and grab the peacock, ride the lift back down and return the bird to the box.
It took at most 10 minutes, he said.
It's certainly one of his more unusual calls, Davidshofer said. “I can't say I've ever had to catch a peacock before.”
Although there was the time he had to roust a raccoon out of the garden center at the Walmart in Council Bluffs ...
